Meet Dr Tammarine Hong
Dr Tammy first saw a chiropractor (Dr Kim) in 2017 after being recommended by her fiancé who was already a patient at Oasis Chiropractic. He had been suffering from severe and debilitating lower back pain after a work injury. After seeing dramatic improvements with his health and function, he insisted that Tammy visit Oasis to have an assessment done. For years, Tammy had lived with persistent low grade back pain, which she just thought was normal for her. After a visit to Dr Kim, who took x-rays and did a full examination, a spinal curvature was discovered, and she began a program of corrective chiropractic care. “I stopped getting headaches, my back pain improved, and I just started to feel like a better, healthier version of myself. I used to think that pain was normal, but after learning how healthy normal should feel and look like, my whole perception of health changed. So I thought, this is it! This is what I want to do. I want to help people and their families thrive.”
Growing up, Dr Tammy had always dreamt of a career in medicine but everything changed when she discovered wellness chiropractic care. She loved how chiropractic focuses on the removal of interference to optimise the body’s innate ability to heal and function. Rather than working in a sick care model, Tammy wanted to help people get well and stay well with natural modalities.
Education and Professional Development
Dr Tammy completed her Bachelor of Science at UWA and went on to earn a Bachelor of Chiropractic Science and Bachelor of Clinical Chiropractic at Murdoch University.
Alongside her formal education, Dr Tammy actively pursued professional development to enhance her skills. She has completed further studies in Sacro Occipital Technic (SOT) and TMJ dysfunction. Tammy has a particular interest in pregnancy and paediatric chiropractic care, and has recently taken over the care of Dr Sarah’s patients, who is now on maternity leave.
Finding Fulfillment Helping Others
In Her Spare Time
Outside the practice, Dr Tammy loves to play badminton with family and friends. She also enjoys spending time with her very chatty black cat, Basil, and her two cheeky dogs, Pawdee (which translates to ‘perfect’ in Thai) and JK (short for Josh Kennedy). “Can you tell my family and I are West Coast Eagles fans?” On her days off, you will find her in her garden tending to her organic herb and vegetable patch that is her pride and joy. “Reducing toxic exposure is very important to me as I understand how damaging this can be to overall health and vitality. I am committed to optimising true health, and I look forward to being able to support you on your path towards greater health!”
